Charm Rug

 Charm Rug is a masterpiece woven according to the ancient traditions of the Irklaouen tribe, a significant component of the Béni M’guild confederation. In Irklaouen culture, the decoration of rugs is characterized by motifs that completely fill the field. In this particular piece, the decoration consists of opposing chevron lines, known as “Ili boutkhist,” which translates to “the toothless.”

The diamond-shaped spaces created by these chevrons are adorned with intricate motifs called “Tkkayte ikken” (closed pearl necklace), “Ammou” (darkness), and “Thbayine” (breasts). This rug features three decorated registers, each exhibiting the same motifs but set against different colored backgrounds, with the central register in a lovely mauve hue.
